FAQs
When do Community Groups start and finish?
Our Community Group calendar is listed above; registration dates, start dates, and end dates of all seasons are included.
Can I join as a participant if I am an ally?
Yes! Groups that are open to allies will be listed in the community group schedule next to the group time. If you are new to conversations around LGBTQ+ inclusion and affirmation we recommend joining the LGBTQ+ Allies, Parents of LGBTQ+ Children or Clergy groups.
Are Community Groups in-person or online?
Community Groups will meet online over Zoom. Email Samantha at samantha@qchristian.org if you are interested in leading a regional in-person group.
How do online Community Groups work?
Community Groups will be hosted through Zoom. Participants and leaders can use video, chat and screen sharing capabilities to engage with the small group materials and each other. You can find out more about how Zoom works here.
I’m not out of the closet. Will my identity be safe?
The safety of those who may not be publicly out of the closet is our utmost priority. Group participants are not required to disclose their real name or use the video function in their small group. The personal information submitted to Q Christian will not be shared publicly or privately, in person or electronically, with anyone other than Q Christian staff members and group leaders. Participants may disclose as much or as little about themselves as they wish in the group. What is shared in the group stays in the group.
What will we talk about in Community Groups?
Curriculum will incorporate our Affirmation and Relational Guides or follow an outline provided by QCF. An overview of each group is provided on the Community Group home page.
Do I have to attend every week?
Community Group Leaders are expected to lead their group every week or make arrangements for the group in the event they cannot lead. Perfect attendance for participants is not mandatory, but what you invest in the group is ultimately what you will get out of it! We encourage you to participate as you have the capacity, and we hope community groups will become a life-giving part of your week.
